How do I add my supplements?
Open Set up in the app. Under Load your supplements, search by brand or ingredient — for example, “Caltrate” or “calcium carbonate”. Tap the supplement you take and enter how often you take it. If your brand isn’t listed, enter the details from the label instead. Choose whether it contains calcium, vitamin D, or both (such as a multivitamin), then add the form, the amount per tablet, and how often you take it. Check the serving size carefully. Some labels give amounts per two tablets rather than per tablet.
My brand isn’t in the list. What do I do?
Enter it directly from the label. In Set up, under Load your supplements, choose Calcium, Vitamin D, or Calcium + D, then enter the form and the amount per tablet. Just Enough calculates the elemental calcium for you. The list holds real products with figures from the labels, so nothing in it is estimated. If yours isn’t there, the label in your hand is the most reliable source anyway.
How do I add a multivitamin that contains calcium and vitamin D?
Choose Calcium + D and enter both amounts once. There’s no need to add the same tablet twice. Calcium and vitamin D in a multivitamin are easy to overlook. If you don’t log them, your daily totals will read lower than what you are actually taking.
How do I change or remove a supplement?
Tap the × beside it in Your supplements. To add another one, go back to Set up. Everything you do once lives there: your supplements, your daily target, your location, your scan dates and your backups.
My doctor gave me a different daily amount. Can I use that?
Yes. In Set up, under Your daily target, open Your doctor set a different target and enter the amount your doctor gave you. Just Enough then counts what you log against that figure instead of the published guideline. The upper limit does not move. It is a safety threshold from the published guidelines rather than a personal target, so you are warned at the same point either way. If the amount your doctor gave you is above that limit, Just Enough asks you to confirm it was prescribed rather than accepting it silently.
Why does Just Enough need my location?
For the UV reading only. Vitamin D is made in your skin, and how much sun you need depends on where you are and the time of year — fifteen minutes of sun in Reykjavík and fifteen in Nairobi are not the same thing. Your skin tone matters too, so the app asks for that as well. The sun’s angle is worked out on your device, offline, and your location never leaves it. You can select the nearest city instead of sharing your location at all.
What are my usual foods?
In Set up, under Add your usual foods, select the calcium-containing foods you eat most often. Those move to the top of the food list, so logging a normal day is two or three taps instead of scrolling.
Where do I find Set up once I have finished it?
It stays where it is, and it keeps the same name. While there is still something to do it sits above your daily numbers and opens on its own; once you have added a supplement and set a location it drops below them and closes. Open it again any time you change supplements, update your target, record a scan date or save a copy of your log.
Do I have to log everything I eat?
No — Just Enough is not a full food diary. Most people get their calcium from a fairly small number of foods, such as dairy, calcium-fortified alternatives, some tofu, fish eaten with the bones in, and certain greens. So it’s a handful of taps on a normal day, not a running record of everything you eat.
What if I forget to log something?
You can catch up by tapping the arrow below the date to step back one day at a time, or tap the missed days in the Staying Power calendar.
Can I log a day I have already missed?
Yes, any day back to the day you started. Everything works exactly as it does on today — supplements, food, activity and time outdoors all go into the day named in the heading, not into today. For time outdoors the app will ask roughly when you were outside, because it cannot know what the sun was doing on a day that has passed.
My supplement says 1,500 mg. Is that what I’m getting?
Not necessarily. This is the single most common misunderstanding in bone health. 1,500 mg of calcium carbonate provides about 600 mg of elemental calcium. The rest is the carbonate the calcium is bound to. Calcium citrate is lower still, at around 21%. Just Enough does that conversion for you, so the number you see is the amount of elemental calcium your supplement provides.
Can I really get too much calcium?
Yes. More isn’t always better. The published tolerable upper intake level is 2,500 mg a day up to age 50, and 2,000 mg a day from 51 — from food and supplements combined. Going above your recommended intake doesn’t mean your bones get progressively more benefit, and high intakes, particularly from supplements rather than food, can carry downsides. That’s why Just Enough shows you two numbers: the amount you’re aiming for, and the amount you shouldn’t routinely exceed.
Why does it ask whether to use the men’s or women’s figures?
The published intake tables are set by age and sex, and the app follows them exactly rather than interpreting them. Between 51 and 70, the recommended intake is 1,200 mg for women and 1,000 mg for men. The reason usually given for that difference is the accelerated bone loss that follows oestrogen loss at menopause. Below 51 and above 70, the two figures are identical, so for most ages the answer changes nothing. It’s phrased as which figures apply rather than what you are, so anyone can pick the row that fits their situation.
How does it know the UV where I am?
The app calculates the sun’s angle using your latitude, the date, and the time. The calculation is done on your device with no internet connection and no data leaving your phone.
How do I put Just Enough on my home screen?
Open justenoughforbones.com/app on your phone and the app shows you the exact steps for the browser you are using. On iPhone, tap the Share button and choose Add to Home Screen. On Android, tap the three dots in your browser and choose Install. It then opens like any other app, full screen and without the browser bars, and it works offline.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Everything is stored on your device, and the calculations all happen there.
Is my data private?
Yes. Everything is stored on your device. If you turn on syncing, a copy travels between your devices scrambled with a key only you hold. No accounts and no database of your health information are stored.
Can I share Just Enough with someone?
Yes. Use the arrow next to Facebook and Instagram in the top-right and bottom-right corners. It sends them to the homepage, so they can start using Just Enough.
Will it sync between my phone and my laptop?
Yes, if you want it to. Create a sync code on one device, type it into the other, and they share one record. It’s off until you turn it on, and the code makes your data readable — so keep it somewhere safe, because it cannot be recovered.
I subscribed, but never received my license key. What now?
Go to lemonsqueezy.com/my-orders, sign in using the email address you paid with, and you’ll find your key on your order. If the email hasn’t arrived, security gateways may have delayed it. Allow emails from lemonsqueezy.com and justenoughforbones.com, so all subscription-related emails reach you. If you still can’t find your key, email [email protected] from the address you used to pay, and we’ll send it to you (within one working day).
Do I need a credit card to try Just Enough?
No. Fourteen days, no card, no subscription. Nothing is required to start — you enter an email address only when you decide to subscribe.
What happens if I cancel?
Cancelling is not the same as a refund. If you want your money back, email us within 14 days of payment — cancelling in the Lemon Squeezy portal only stops the next renewal, it doesn’t return your payment. To cancel, go to lemonsqueezy.com/my-orders, sign in with the email you paid with, and choose Manage Subscription. You keep the app until the year you’ve paid for runs out.
Is this medical advice?
No. It adds up your intake and compares it to published guidelines. It doesn’t diagnose anything and can’t tell you about your actual bone density. Only a scan does that. Just Enough shouldn’t replace seeing a doctor, particularly if you have kidney problems, a parathyroid condition, or a history of stones.
